A common question I get about milestone sessions is “What happens if you get a child that doesn’t smile or cooperate at all.” Of course that happens from time to time, but honestly it’s very rare. This is why I not only offer re-schedule requests up to an hour before a session, but I allow time adjustments (even on session day) for each of my sessions to ensure a session doesn’t land over nap time or in case baby gets off schedule first thing in the morning. Cause face it – it happens! I also don’t time my sessions, or stack sessions back to back. This allows me not to rush my sessions – I’m on baby’s time!
I also always suggest moms be prepared to be in a few captures. Not only do I truly believe those captures will be treasured the most in the future – but your little one feels more secure in your arms – so when they are in a new space it may take time to get them comfortable to explore on their own. Having you play with them, ensuring them they are safe is a great way to start a session!
